Integrate Campaign Classic V7 with ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target

Learn how to personalize a delivery with dynamic content served from ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target.

Hello, and welcome to the tutorial for integrating dynamic offers in ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Campaign using ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target. The goal of this tutorial is to teach you how to serve a dynamic offer from ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target, using an ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Campaign email delivery. This will allow you to further customize your email deliveries based on the different audiences you’ve defined in both Campaign and Target. To do this, I’ll walk you through the required steps, including checking your integration settings, inserting a dynamic image in an email delivery and defining the dynamic image parameters. To begin this tutorial, you’ll need the following prerequisites. First you’ll need access to an organization with ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Campaign. Next you’ll need access to an organization with an ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target instance. Additionally, you’ll need an experienced Targeting activity in ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target that you’ll use to serve your dynamic images. With that, let’s jump right into the tutorial.
Let’s start by logging in to our ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Campaign instance. First let’s check that our ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target integration is set up properly in Campaign. To check your integration settings, let’s navigate to the Explorer tab. Next, expand administration, platform, followed by selecting options. In the internal name search bar type T-N-T, and two resources should populate. TNT edge server and TNT tenant name.
Should these resources not be available in your instance, reach out to your administrator or ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ representative. The edge server is the ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target server used for the integration. The value corresponds to the ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target domain server followed by /M2.
The tenant name will map to your ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target organization name. This should be your ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target tenant name.
Once we have confirmed that our integration is set up, we’re ready to insert and send a dynamic image via an email delivery. Navigating back to deliveries, let’s create a new delivery by selecting create.
Creating an email with a dynamic offer is going to allow us to show a different image, depending on the criteria we set up for our recipient audience. In this email, we will change the image based on the gender preference of the recipient. After creating the body of our email using Campaign components, we’re ready to add in our dynamic image from ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target.
To insert the image, start by selecting the component dropdown. Next, hover over include, followed by selecting dynamic image served by ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target. A popover appears asking us to fill in some information.
In order to fill in this information, we need to have a redirect offer in ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target, audiences for filtering and an experienced Targeting activity that uses your offer in audiences.
Swapping over to Target, let’s quickly create a redirect offer. Start by selecting offers in the top navigation, followed by selecting the create button. From the available options, select redirect offer.
In the create redirect offer pop over, you are asked to provide a name and redirect URL. This URL is a static location for the image we want to use. In this example, let’s create our default image. The URL I provided here links to the following image of a snowboarder.
Once complete, select save and create any additional redirect offers you plan on using. Each image needs a redirect offer. As you can see, I created a default men and women offer.
Next, we want to define our audience in ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target. To do this, select the audience’s tab in the top navigation, then select create audience. The create audience tool appears. Drag and drop the custom attribute, then select the gender parameter.
Next, using the dropdown that appeared, select equals and in the values text box type female.
Provide a name and description to the right, then select done to continue. What we’ve done here is created an audience of females. This audience will be used by Target to determine what redirect offer to show when we set up an experience Targeting activity. When making your default audience, use parameter is not present instead of equals.
Now that we have defined our offers and audiences, we’re ready to create the experience Targeting activity. Navigate to activities from the top navigation, followed by selecting the create activity button and from the available options, select experience Targeting.
In the popover that appears, select the email icon, then select the workspace and property you wish to use. Once complete, select next to continue.
For the location, select a raw box and note that value somewhere, as will need it later in Campaign. Next, select the ellipses and from the available options, select change audience, the ad audiences pop over appears. We will set our default audience first, then select a sign audience to continue.
Next in the content dropdown, select change redirect offer. In the popover that appears, select your default redirect offer and that’s one experience done. We can add more experiences by selecting the ad experience Targeting hyperlink to create a new experience. When creating a new experience, you are automatically asked to add an audience.
Continue to follow this workflow until all your audiences you made have been mapped to the content offers you created. Once complete, select next to continue. Here we can review our audiences and the offers they map to. Select next and we can optionally tweak different settings. For this demo, we’ll just save and close.
Your new activity should now be available in the activities list, but we’re not quite done. We just need to grab one more value from this activity before hopping back into Campaign. Select your activity, followed by selecting the properties button. A popover appears, and a key value is populated. Copy only the property value. This value will be used shortly.
Hopping back into Campaign, we are now ready to fill in our parameters.
Default image is the image URL that would be displayed when none of your defined conditions are fulfilled. The Target location is the name of your dynamic offers location. This was the Raw box location we saved earlier. This location is found within your ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target activities overview tab, under activity location. The Target property value was the key value we saved via the properties button on our Targeting activity.
Landing page lets us redirect the default image to a default landing page, this is optional. In this example, we’ll leave this blank. Lastly, we are able to add additional decision parameters, additional decision parameters define the mapping between our recipient data in Campaign and the audiences in ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target. In other words, Campaign will send the recipients known data to Target. Then Target will see if this value falls into any of the audiences we defined. So John being a male would fall under our male audience and therefore be served experience B, which uses the weekend men image.
Now that we know what a decision parameter is and how it works, let’s add one by selecting add and give our decision parameter a name.
Next, in the select column, select a value from the available fields popover that appears, I’ll be selecting gender, since I want to send the recipients gender to Target. Once complete, select okay to continue.
The HTML content will update with an image place holder and dynamic image text. To view the dynamic image, we need to select preview, followed by selecting a test recipient. This instance has three different test recipients with a female, male and no gender defined.
As I select the different recipients, we can see that the image changes based on our recipients gender.
After testing our conditions, the email delivery is ready to send. We can simply select send in the top left, followed by adding our delivery population and selecting analyze, followed by selecting confirm delivery.
You should now know how to deliver dynamic offers using ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Target. Of course, this was a simple tutorial with only one condition. We look forward to hearing about your advance email offers with multiple dynamic images and conditions.
