Unresolved approvals will prevent you from setting the project status to complete. If you try, you will get an error like this. Project cannot be marked complete if there are open issues and tasks that are not complete. Here’s how to find unapproved tasks and deal with them. On the Tasks tab of your project, select a view that includes the Status column, such as the Status view. Any working task with the words Pending Approval in the status needs to be approved. You can open the task to see who is assigned to review and approve it. Click the three dots in the Approval area. If there is a job role instead of a name, it means that everyone with this job role on your project team was notified that an approval was needed here. We can see the names of those people by checking the project team. Go back to the project and click on People to see the project team. It looks like David White is the Art Director. The project manager may need to remind David White to make this approval. Sometimes a task might be assigned an approval process by mistake. If this is the case, the project manager can remove the approval process. To do this, you first must change the status to a status that is not Pending Approval. That’s because a task that is awaiting approval can’t be edited. We’ll change the status to New. Now we can open the Approval area and remove the approval process by clicking on the X to the far right. Issues awaiting approval are similar. First go to the Issues area, then choose a view that shows the status, like the Standard view. Open the issue to see who is assigned as the approver. You can see the name here. If you decide to remove the approval process, you can change the status and do it here.
