2024 Customer Journey Analytics release notes
October 2024 oct24
Journey canvas is a visualization in Analysis workspace that allows you to analyze how people proceed through or fall out of a defined journey. Build analyses of user journeys by creating a flexible graph of nodes and arrows representing any combination of events, dimension items, and filters. Drag nodes on the canvas to rearrange the events and conditions of the journey. As you do, data updates accordingly.
Customers with access to ۶Ƶ Journey Optimizer can analyze existing Journey Optimizer journeys.
To learn more about Journey canvas, see Journey canvas overview.
To learn how to build a Journey canvas visualization, see Configure Journey canvas.
When creating an audience from a visualization within Analysis Workspace, panel filters and column filters are now included as additional criteria. If the filters aren’t needed, they can be removed prior to publishing the audience. Previously, any filters applied to the panel or to the column of a visualization in Analysis Workspace were ignored when creating an audience.
For information about how to create an audience from Customer Journey Analytics, see Create and publish audiences.

The “Used in” column in the calculated metric manager and filters manager contains the following new reporting areas:
- Report Builder: Shows the number of calculated metrics or filters that are being used in the Report Builder.
- Ad hoc components: Shows the number of ad hoc calculated metrics or ad hoc filters that are being used in projects. These ad hoc calculated metrics and filters (otherwise known as “quick calculated metrics” and “quick filters”) can be used only in the project where they were created, so they are reported separately from the “Project” reporting area in the “Used in” column.
For more information, see Calculated metrics manager and Filters manager.
Alerts in Customer Journey Analytics allow you to be notified based on changed percentages or specific data points.
Depending on your Customer Journey Analytics package, you can also use alerts to be triggered based on anomaly thresholds. These alerts (also known as “Intelligent Alerts”), provide granular controls that integrate with Anomaly Detection, triggering when you need them most.
The process of using alerts in Customer Journey Analytics is nearly identical to using alerts in ۶Ƶ Analytics. One key difference is that hourly alerts are not available in Customer Journey Analytics. This difference is because data ingestion for the various kinds of event data that can be ingested is complete only after a delay, typically ranging from 3 to 9 hours past the data event time.
For more information about the differences when using alerts in Customer Journey Analytics from ۶Ƶ Analytics, see Alerts feature comparison.
To learn more about alerts, see Alerts overview

Allows you to bring in time-series data that does not have a person ID. This time-series data can be used to support various use cases, such as:
- Presenting high-level performance indicators as part of or next to event-level data. This can include something as simple as a date and a single metric value or include multiple dimensions and metrics, like advertising impressions, email opens, advertising spend, cost of good sold, and more.
- Uploading targets or goals at an hourly or daily basis, then positioning these targets or goals against event-level metrics. This helps visualize how metrics are trending against the organizational targets or goals.
For more information, see Summary data.
Audiences that are published from Customer Journey Analytics are now available in the new “Audiences” section in ۶Ƶ Experience Platform.
Previously, audiences that were published from Customer Journey Analytics were available in Experience Platform under the “Segments” section.
This improvement provides the following benefits:
- Audiences no longer have a 1-hour delay before they appear in Experience Platform; they are available seconds after they are published.
- Audiences can be sorted in Experience Platform by using the “Origin” column, which displays the application from which the audience was originally published.
- Filter and sort options in Experience Platform enable you to find the relevant audiences more quickly.
For more information, see Use Customer Journey Analytics audiences in Experience Platform in the article, Create and publish audiences.

Through Graph-based stitching, you can use the identity graph from the Experience Platform Identity Service to get a better view of the customer journey by:
- Joining datasets with different identifiers without having to extract, transform and load additional data to reflect a single identifier.
- Improving coverage of preferred or golden identity for a single dataset by sharing identities across datasets.
- Aligning profiles created in Real-Time Customer Data Platform and Journey Optimizer with people in Customer Journey Analytics.
To support person-based lookups on B2B data (including accounts, opportunities, marketing lists and campaigns), you can transform B2B lookup datasets. This transformation is available only for datasets with data for B2B lookup schemas, based on the following classes:
- XDM Business Account Person Relation
- XDM Business Opportunity Person Relation
- XDM Business Marketing List Members
- XDM Business Campaign Members
You can now ingest your events data in Customer Journey Analytics within 90 minutes (SLT), regardless of whether the data is 24 hours, 48 hours, or 7 days old. Note that this capability differs based on the SKU package your company purchased:
- Customer Journey Analytics Priority Ingestion Basic: 24-hour-old data within 90-minute SLT processing (available for Customer Journey Analytics Foundation and Customer Journey Analytics Select)
- Customer Journey Analytics Priority Ingestion Intermediate: 72-hour-old data within 90-minute SLT processing (available for Customer Journey Analytics Prime)
- Customer Journey Analytics Priority Ingestion Advanced: 1-week-old data within 90-minute SLT processing (available for Customer Journey Analytics Ultimate)
When multiple fields have been added to a drop-down filter, users can now select more than one field at a time. The panel is filtered to include any of the selected fields.
Previously, users could select only one field at a time in a drop-dow filter.
The option to require a selection in a drop-down filter as been moved to the menu when right-clicking a drop-down filter.
Previously, users could click the (x) next to the No Filter option in the drop-down menu.
For more information, see Static drop-down filters in Panels overview.
A new table of contents is now available for projects. The table of contents provides links that enable users to quickly move between panels and visualizations within the project.
The table of contents is available in the left rail in all projects.
For more information, see Project table of contents.
You can create hyperlinks for one or more dimension items to make them clickable within a freeform table in Analysis Workspace.
You can create hyperlinks for dimension items that have URL values, or you can create custom URLs for dimension items that have non-URL values.
You can create dynamic custom URLs for multiple dimension items by using variables. Variables can reference the value of a dimension item or they can reference the breakdown dimension.
For more information, see Create hyperlinks for dimensions in a freeform table.
A new configuration option in Customer Journey Analytics allows you to designate a Customer Journey Analytics data view to use with ۶Ƶ Journey Optimizer, without the need for manual configuration.
For information about how to enable this configuration option, see the Compatibility section in Create or edit a data view.
Previously, you had to manually configure a connection and data views when viewing Journey Optimizer data in Customer Journey Analytics.
